WINTER CHILL: COMING SOON
Posted by Brent Cameron
Just last week, south Florida had a dose of "rare air" with a brief chilly change. For a short time, we received our coldest temperatures since last March! Now, we're tracking another strong cold front that ALSO has a high chance of dropping temperatures about 20-degrees (or more)! The coldest time frame will be from late Wednesday night through Friday afternoon. In fact, wake-up readings on Friday morning will range from the lower 40s inland, to the middle and upper 40s between the metro areas and beach locations!
Still, on Tuesday, we'll be tapping into air from the south (ahead of the front). In actuality, two separate fronts will be crossing our state... with the stronger of the two coming after dark on Wednesday. Brisk winds are likely to accompany the secondary front, and that will add to the chill, beginning Thursday. Parts of south Florida may even be included in a "wind chill advisory" with the feels-like temperature falling into the 30s.
Unlike the most recent cold snap, this stint of cold air will linger longer. In fact, below-average temperatures are expected to last through next weekend!
