Pembroke Pines rape a consensual act

PEMBROKE PINES (AP) -- The reported rape of a 16-year old girl that caused a massive manhunt and put a nearby middle school on lockdown Tuesday afternoon was false.

The teenager admitted to police tonight that the attack was in fact consensual sex with an unknown male.

Pembroke Pines police set up a perimeter at C.B. Smith Park after the teenager reported being raped inside a trailer park at about 3 p.m. Nearby Walter C. Young Middle School was also put on lockdown for two hours as a result. The reported attack also set an entire community in fear over a possible rapist on the loose.

Helicopters, squad cars and kanine units were also sent in to search.
