Man charged in federal agent's shooting is hospitalized
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Police say the man arrested in the killing of a federal agent outside a busy South Florida post office is in a hospital for personal medical reasons.
Police Sgt. Bryan Davis said Thursday that 65-year-old James Patrick Wonder was hospitalized after being questioned by police, but could not release further information about Wonder's condition or why he was hospitalized. Authorities say he was at a dialysis center when he was caught.
Wonder is charged with first-degree murder. He's accused of fatally shooting 52-year-old customs agent Donald Pettit Tuesday morning in Pembroke Pines after some sort of argument. Pettit's 12-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting.
Police say her detailed description of the shooter and an anonymous tip led to the suspect's arrest.
