Father mourns the loss of mother of kids after accident; sons remain in hospital

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A father is dealing with the pain having both kids in the hospital after a car accident killed their mother while their children were inside the vehicle.

Five-year old Christoper Cutrone is in intensive care along with his 7-year-old brother after their mother got into a fatal car crash with both of her precious sons inside.

On Monday night in Aventura, their mother Donna Dante was speeding down Biscayne Boulevard. According to officials, Dante side-swiped a car, crossed a median and collided with another car. Police said they found an open bottle of tequila in the car. Dante was pronounced dead, her two sons taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The father of the two boys, Joseph Cutrone has been with his children in the hospital since the accident. Joseph admittedly went through a rough divorce with his wife. "I don't believe, I just don't believe it. She would never put their kids in danger, never," said Cutrone.

According to court records, he was listed as both a defendant and a plaintiff in domestic violence court. Cutrone is on probation after pleading guilty to battery, but says this is beyond his divorce from his wife. "She was such a beautiful person, they loved their mother very much, they loved their mother. This is so hard for me," said Cutrone

The Department of Children and Families told Seven News they are looking into the situation. The father of the boys said they are improving and the day will come when he will have to tell them about their mother.

According to doctors, both kids are expected to make a full recovery. Cutrone however, said he has no idea how he will pay for his kids medical bills.
