Earrings in photo land South Florida man back in jail

MIAMI (AP) -- A booking photo has sent a South Florida man back to jail.

Aventura police said John Lagrua complained after an arrest in May that he had been beaten by officers and authorities stole his jewelry.

But police said an internal affairs investigator looked at Lagrua's booking photo and saw that Lagrua was wearing diamond stud earrings and didn't have any bruises.

Lagrua is now charged with making a false official statement. He acknowledges he was wrong about the jewelry, but still says the officers beat him.
