Hollywood City Hall employees could get 4-day work week
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Employees at Hollywood City Hall could soon be out of the office and getting an early start to the weekend.
Commissioners are considering the idea of moving to a four-day work week to save money in the face of steep budget cuts.
The shortened work week is already being tried in Coconut Creek, where city employees work four days a week and 10 hours a day to make up for Friday.
The move is designed to save the city money on utilities and building costs. However, no final decision has been made. "We could find that this doesn't make sense and doesn't save us a substantial amount of money and that it's more trouble than it's worth," said Raelin Storey, spokeswoman for the City of Hollywood.
Miami-Dade County is also said to be exploring a similar plan, including having employees work from home one day during the week.
