Authorities find missing swimmer's body

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities have found the body of a swimmer who went missing in Panama City Beach.

A spokesman for the Bay County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old Pierre E. Allen of Water Valley, Mississippi, was spotted by a helicopter yesterday morning. He was found about 100 yards off shore in 15 feet of water. He was close to the location where he was last seen Saturday afternoon.

That same day, more than 40 other swimmers had to be rescued from dangerous rip currents.

The rip currents caused authorities to close the beach. Observing similar conditions in the water yesterday, officials again closed the beaches to swimmers.
