Authorities respond to fatal multi-car crash

EASTERN COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are on the scene of a fatal multi-car accident.

Just before 4 p.m. Monday, Collier County Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Florida Highway Patrol units were dispatched to a head-on collision involving three vehicles along Tamiami Trail at around mile marker 45.

Authorities have confirmed one person died in the crash. Five other passengers have been airlifted to Jackson Memorial hospital.

Tamiami Trail had to be closed between State Road 29 and Krome Avenue.
