Ala. woman convicted of battery for ruckus at Disney ride
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- An Alabama woman charged with beating and kicking a woman she said cut in line at a Walt Disney World attraction was convicted of battery Friday and faces up to a year in jail.
Victoria Walker, 51, of Anniston, Ala., had faced 15 years in prison if convicted of a felony charge of aggravated battery. A jury convicted her of the lesser charge, however.
She is scheduled to be sentenced April 23.
Walker was arrested in July 2007, nearly two months after the altercation while in line for the Mad Tea Party. She was with her daughter when she yelled obscenities at Aimee Krause, of Clemont, Fla., and shoved two children with Krause, according to a sheriff's report.
Walker grabbed Krause from behind and began beating her until witnesses pulled the women apart, the document said. Disney security responded and called sheriff officials who made a report and allowed the woman to leave.
Walker was also accused of pushing Krause's daughter, but she was acquitted of that battery charge.
"I'm very pleased that she was convicted of a crime," Krause told the Orlando Sentinel.
Messages left by The Associated Press with attorneys involved in the case were not immediately returned Friday night.
