Handicapped woman's trailer stolen
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla (WSVN) -- A handicapped woman that dedicated her life to rowing, had her trailer stolen from a parking lot on Wednesday morning.
According to Angela Madsen, someone stole the trailer she uses to haul her boat while it was parked in a hotel's parking lot in Doral.
The paraplegic woman rowed 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean island of Antigua. "I spent 67 days rowing across the ocean," said Madsen.
Madsen said this is a costly crime for her pocketbook but added there is no monetary amount on the events she had to cancel as a result of the theft. "I run a rowing company for disabled kids in Oklahoma and war vets," she said.
Madsen said the theft disturbs her because whoever took the van must have known they were stealing from a handicapped war veteran. "You can see my van, it has 'handicap woman' on it with a disabled veteran license plate. To look at my van and steal my trailer?," said the distraught athlete.
If you have any information on this robbery, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
