Parents of girl killed in parasailing accident sue

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- The parents of a teenager who died in a parasailing accident in Pompano Beach have each filed negligence lawsuits.

Fifteen-year-old Amber White of Summerfield died a day after the rope tethering her parasail to the boat snapped, sending her and her 17-year-old sister Crystal flying over the beach into a nearby hotel. Crystal White was seriously injured.

The lawsuit filed by the girls' mother claims the parasail operator used the wrong equipment and failed to provide enough training. The girls' father separately filed a similar lawsuit.

The parasail operator says he's an "experienced captain" and that he did everything he could to avoid the accident earlier this month.
