2 accused of murdering N.Y. woman whose head was found in canal
PORT ORANGE, Fla. (AP) -- Two tree trimmers are being held in a Volusia County jail without bond in the murder of a Long Island, New York, woman whose head was found floating in an Everglades canal.
Lorraine Hatzakorzian's head was found April 28th in a plastic bag and floating in a canal off Alligator Alley. Authorities say Hatzakorzian was last seen leaving her Long Island home with Paul Truccio and Robert Mackey. She had been reported missing April 21st.
Investigators say the two men kidnapped Hatzakorzian, used tree trimming tools to dismember her and disposed of her body parts along their drive to Florida.
Trucchio and Mackey were charged with murder this weekend. A roommate tipped police after hearing them brag about killing a woman and dumping her body parts.
