Shark bite victim undergoing surgery today

MIAMI (AP) -- A Jacksonville woman is recovering today after being bitten by a shark off the Florida Keys.

Nineteen-year-old Ashley Silverman had surgery yesterday. She was on a boat Tuesday afternoon when she decided to jump into the water to cool off. She says immediately after she jumped in she could feel something biting her arm. Silverman's boyfriend managed to pull her out and get her to a hospital.

Her doctors say the animal that attacked her could have been a bull shark.
