Good Samaritans rescue woman after her car falls into canal

WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A woman is lucky to be alive after her car careened off of the Florida Turnpike and into a canal.
The woman behind the wheel was headed south on the Turnpike when another car struck her vehicle forcing it on the embankment and straight into a canal.
A group of good Samaritans risked their lives to pull the driver out of her sinking vehicle and on to shore. "The car was going down, and people were just waving and waving, so I just jumped right in there and grabbed the lady," said Guillermo Gonzalez.
One man injured his arm when he used a rock to break the windshield of the car in an attempt to set the women free.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the women to Kendall Regional Medical Center with minor injures. Florida Highway Patrol are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, with no word on the driver who struck the victim's car.
