Authorities: Man killed at beachside motel during Spring Break
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- An 18-year-old man was shot and killed at a beachside motel during Spring Break, authorities said.
Lance David Ulland was shot once in the head at 3:30 a.m. Sunday after he opened the door to his motel room, authorities said. Police arrested Matthew Castro, 27, shortly after.
Castro was charged with homicide first degree and was being held without bail Sunday night at the Volusia County Branch Jail, a jail official said.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
Ulland recently moved to Kissimmee area from Minnesota and was staying at the motel with his cousin.
"Everything is still under investigation," said Jimmie Flynt, spokesman for the Daytona Beach Police Department.
It was not immediately known if Castro had an attorney.
