Quartet of robbers clean out family's home

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A family lost nearly everything after four brazen burglars were caught on surveillance tape as they broke into their home and stole various items in broad daylight.
A car full of crooks casually invaded a family's home located at Southwest 30th Avenue and 14th Street as people walked past and cars drove by. "They weren't worried or in a hurry," said the owner of the home, Patricia Casas. "The way that they came, and they opened the gate, it's like they had been watching. My mother wasn't here during that time, and she's always here."
The thieves, who authorities believe consisted of two males and two females, stole nearly of all the Casas family's possessions, except for the home surveillance video that caught their seemingly crooked acts.
Casas said the thieves broke through a window and stole thousands of dollars worth of personal belongings, including a rare gold coin collection, electronics and the childrens' toys. "They were all crying when I told them," said Casas. "They couldn't touch anything, they walked in and see the house upside down."
Although the family feels violated and devastated, they are thankful for one thing. "I'm glad that nobody got hurt and nobody was home, but it's uncalled for. We work hard for what we have."
The only information at this time is that the car driven by the burglars was red. Residents in the neighborhood have been advised to keep a lookout as several other burglaries have taken place in the area lately.
Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
