White powder scare at UM doctor's office
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Authorities are trying to determine what exactly might have been inside an envelope that was delivered to a University of Miami office, which caused a hazardous materials scare.
Miami Fire Rescue's Hazmat team and the Miami Police Department responded to the UM Professional Arts Center, located at 1150 NW 14 Street, after someone found a letter containing a white substance in a doctor's office.
Hazmat officials obtained the white powder and tested it, determining it to be negative for bio-hazardous material. It is now being sent to a lab for further testing.
Authorities isolated three people and temporarily closed down roadways near the office building.
The building contains Obstetrics/Gynecology offices and is located near the UM Medical campus.
