3 shot at child's birthday party

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Three people are recovering in the hospital after shots rang out at a child's birthday party Sunday night.

The shooting occurred at 10 p.m. at a home near Northeast 143rd and Sixth Avenue. Investigators said someone fired shots into a crowd of party-goers in the backyard. "I was at the party, and we were sitting around having fun. After a few minutes, I looked, and I saw a lot of people shooting outside and everybody started running," said a woman known as "Berlinda." "I was inside. I saw a lot of people running, and I heard they got shot."

A parent also attended the party with her four children. "We heard like two gunshots and everybody ran looking for their kids," said a woman identified only as "Tonya." "I'm here with all four of them. They're OK."

Rescue crews transported the three victims to local hospitals in stable condition.

No word on what led to the shooting.
