Habitat for Humanity goes green

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.(WSVN) -- A charity known for putting needy families into homes is now going green.
Habitat for Humanity of Broward County and 100 volunteers raised the walls on the first home of Habitat's green build community Saturday.
This community will have 30 homes that meet or exceed the standards for leadership in energy and environmental design certification.
"As you know, the families we are working with are loaded very low, and the most important thing is energy. Reduce on their electricity, and we're helping to reduce the carbon footprint in this community," Maureen Hodgson said.
