Amber Alert suspect in police custody
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The suspect in the Amber Alert case from North Carolina is now in police custody.
Timothy Newman, a 38-year-old sex offender, was caught at a Denny's east of I-95 on Hallandale Beach Boulevard, at around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were at a gas station located at 375 South Dixie Highway earlier today where they believed the 12-year-old girl Newman allegedly kidnapped was last spotted.
Abigale Faith Lefevers was last seen with a pink book bag and has been missing since Monday. Police said the girl had been communicating with the 38-year-old sex offender and believe she was with him.
Newman's '98 model, red Chrysler Sebring with a North Carolina license plate was spotted in Hallandale Beach and police arrested him.
Abigale is now safe with police.
