Charitable fund setup for family of slain federal agent

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) -- A charitable fund has been setup to assist the family of a slain federal agent who was shot outside a Pembroke Pines post office.

Contributions to the family of 52-year-old customs agent Donald Pettit can be made to the Pettit Family Charitable Fund at: P.O. Box 14010, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33302.

Authorities have charged 65-year-old James Patrick Wonder with first-degree murder in Pettit's death. Police say Wonder was late for an appointment Tuesday, and in a state of road rage, got into a confrontation with Pettit and shot him.

Pettit's 12-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting. Police say her detailed description of the shooter and an anonymous tip led to Wonder's arrest.
