Britney Spears makes special stop on South Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The buzz and rumors turned out to be true as a frenzy of fans and paparazzi lined up on Washington Avenue Sunday night and were delighted to greet Britney Spears as she made a special stop in South Florida.

The marquee outside of Mansion nightclub read "M+M's Live in Concert," which, as many hardcore Britney fans know, is used as Spears' alias. Mansion kept the appearance under wraps, and employees were sworn to secrecy by signing a confidentially agreement not to mention anything about a possible Spears performance.

Sure enough, after rumors that Spears might hold a surprise performance in South Florida, she showed up around 6:30 p.m. in a black Escalade and went straight to the back of the club for a sound check. No cell phones or cameras were permitted inside.

Spears took the stage and lip-synced several songs and was said to be wearing a long blonde wig along with a hat. It was reported that Spears spent the day shopping on South Beach and stayed at the Ritz Carlton.
