Nintendo Recall Nintendo recalls Wii straps

Nintendo Recall Nintendo recalls Wii straps

TOKYO -- Nintendo is recalling more than three million controller straps for its popular new Wii computer game.

The move comes amid reports of excited gamers losing their grip on the Wii's controller or smacking their arms into nearby objects. One woman launched her controller into her 37-inch TV while playing a bowling game.

Nintendo had been telling players to calm down, then started working to beef up the controller's fabric wrist strap.

It's estimated that nearly half a million Wiis have been sold since the November 17th launch in the U.S.

Nintendo also is recalling 200-thousand AC adapters for its DS and DS Lite consoles in Japan, but the recall does not affect adapters sold abroad.
